Summer Programs
Select Movement of Youth students have taken advantage of the following summer programs:
Project Uplift: Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, in conjunction with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, sponsors Project Uplift annually to enhance the diversity of the University of North Carolina’s undergraduate population. African-American, Native American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American, low income, rural and other rising seniors from historically underserved populations who are in the top 25% of their class are invited to spend 2 days on the campus for a general introduction to student life. This early recruitment program provides prospective students with insight into the UNC-Chapel Hill undergraduate experience. During May and June, approximately 1000 rising high school seniors and other secondary students participate.

Project SEED: Project SEED, the American Chemical Society's social action program, places talented, disadvantaged high school students in academic, industrial, and government research laboratories for 8-10 weeks during the summer to experience "hands-on" research. Each student completes a chemical research project under the supervision of a scientist/mentor (called a preceptor) and receives an educational award.
